Your Q4 Prep Checklist for Buyers & Sellers

Dear Fellow Pilots and Owners,

Q4 is our busiest season for aircraft transactions. Good aircraft sell quickly, and prepared buyers get first pick. Whether you’re buying or selling, a little preparation now can make a big difference.

Here’s your Q4 checklist:

  1. Talk to your insurance provider early. Insurability and training requirements can affect which airplanes make sense, so find out before you fall for one.
  2. Know what you’re shopping for. Define your mission and budget together, and let both shape your search from day one.
  3. Be flexible. Deals have moving parts. The right airplane may not be near your preferred pre-buy shop, so stay open to adjusting the logistics.
  1. List it sooner rather than later. By December, much of the season’s demand will have already passed.
  2. Price it right. Q4 demand doesn’t last long enough to push prices up. Your airplane still has to be priced correctly to sell.
  3. Get your records and maintenance in order. Organized logbooks and limiting open squawks keep a deal from stalling later.
  4. Be flexible. Deals have moving parts. The right airplane may not be near your preferred pre-buy shop, so stay open to adjusting the logistics.
