February 2021 Cirrus Newsletter
Dear Fellow Cirrus Pilot
It’s been roughly one full year since Covid-19 began to seriously affect our lives, and what a year it has
been! Amidst misfortune, there have also been bright spots, of course. For those of us fortunate enough
to be in GA, the past 12 months have brought a great deal of awesome flying. And for those of us in the
Cirrus sales/acquisition world, business has boomed. For this, we offer a very simple and heartfelt “thank
you.”
2020 proved that predicting the future is perilous. Still, as we dive into 2021, we attempt to provide as
clear a picture as possible to you of the lay of the land. At Aerista, we love data. It may not be sexy, but
it’s impartial, apolitical and reliable, which makes it the best foundation for understanding transactions
and marketplaces. It is also hard to come-by, so we work hard to cultivate as much of it as possible. The
story the data is telling us at this moment is pretty incredible.
Plain and simply, unequivocally, supply is at an all time low while demand reaches new heights. The
pressure on prices is to the upside, a phenomenon quite rare in aviation. Just look at these data points:
The bad news? If you’re looking to purchase, you might find yourself in a bidding war. The good news? If
you’re looking to sell, you might be the beneficiary of just such a bidding war!
So what’s the takeaway? You’ve come to expect that, as aircraft brokers, we are always saying that now
is the time to…sell, buy or upgrade, right? Well, being true to form, we won’t disappoint you! But know
that the data supports our pronouncements and the data is pointing to three conclusions:
● It’s a great time to be selling a Cirrus, period.
● If you’re looking to buy, and can wait until supply catches up a bit, wait.
● If you’re looking to upgrade or prefer to not wait to make a purchase, make sure you connect
with the biggest brokers – we are the ones who know what units are coming to market and can
give priority access to our clients.
As always, if there is anything we can help you with, or if you are interested in discussing the value of your Cirrus in today’s market, please don’t hesitate to call or write.
